AI – Public Health & Medical Care: Current Impact, Future Possibilities
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is both a hero and a villian (and maybe both) depending on who you talk. One thing is certain, it’s here and it isn’t going away. It is impacting how we live, learn and work and AI is currently having a tremendous impact on public health and medical care and will continue to do so at an exhilirating/alarming speed in areas such as:
This reality is why the Foxglove Alliance, as part of its FGA Innovation Inititive, is partnering with the Illinois Medical District (IMD)to bring public health, medical care and AI implementatino subject matter experts to kickoff what will be multiple “deep dive” discussions on how AI is currently impacting public health and medical care and what to expect in the future. Moderated by FGA Coordinator Levi Moore, the panelists for the launch event are:

Executive Director – mHUB’s MedTech Accelerator
This is expected to be a very interactive discussion with the in-person audience that will cover the following topics as stand-alone discussions. The topics are:
- The state of AI in health in 2026 – an overview;
- How is AI currently and projected to change hospital and medical care workflow; and
- What’s next: Now to 2040.
That launch event is free and will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at the IMD’s headquarters (2100 W. Harrison St. in Chicago) from 9:30 – 11 a.m. The goal is to have that initial discussion frame a series of webinars in 2027 that will cover:
- The impact of AI on healthcare staffing – what jobs will be eliminated and what jobs will need to be created (and what is the curriculum);
- AI, Health and the Environment; and
- How quantum computing will impact medical care, public health, health equity and predictive analytics.
These discussions will hopefully be a discussion on how innovation, health care, workforce development and public wellness are converging. There will also be another in-person convening in the 4th quarter of 2027 to see what has changed in just a year – probably a lot. More than likely, if you are a public health professional, doctor, nurse, hospital support and/or adminstrative staff member, a medical student or work at a health clinic, your job and place or work are going to be changed.
