I Am Abel Foundation joins Foxglove Alliance

Media Announcement – April 22, 2022

The Foxglove Alliance (FGA) announced today that the I Am Abel Foundation has joined the burgeoning coalition of Chicago public healthcare organizations.  I Am Abel increases the FGA’s official membership to 13 organizations, but it also collaborates with a number of strategic partners on specific projects and events.

The foundation’s founder and Executive Director, LaMenta Conway MD, MPH, said ”I Am Abel’s mission is to identify, engage and curate the large pool of untapped gifts, talent and intellect amongst Chicago youth, with the singular goals of raising the next generation of Healthcare Heroes.  Our goal is to diversify the fields of research and medicine with exceptional talent by preparing underrepresented youth to serve their communities with passion, purpose and excellence.  Because of the vast expertise of the various members of the Foxglove Alliance, we are confident that joining the coalition will help us significantly advance our organization and our programs.”

FGA Coordinator Levi Moore stated, “I Am Abel will be a tremendous addition to the FGA because of the foundation’s focus on and dedication to increasing the pipeline of Chicago minority youth being exposed to and encouraged to enter into careers in public health and related fields.  I am especially excited about what they bring to our M3R (More Minorities in Medical Research) campaign.  What I Am Abel does is actually the long-term solution to the issue.”

The M3R campaign is the FGA’s newest initiative.  It hopes that it will be as successful as its work with the Illinois Drug Repository Opportunity Program (I-DROP) which allows the donation of unopened, unused prescription medications to entities such as free and charitable clinics in Illinois.
